Coney View Boathouse

Lake Joseph, ON
1,938 SQFT

Exceptional design is born from an exceptional vision. Through extensive dialogue and a process of inspirational exploration, we uncovered the client’s aspirations for their project on the west side of Southern Lake Joseph. The commission encompassed a multifaceted development: a two-story boathouse, a spacious two-story cottage with a daylight lower level, a two-story garage, and a sports court with a pavilion. Each element was meticulously designed to fulfill the client’s needs and desires, reflecting both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

The design is characterized by its sleek, contemporary lines and remarkable attention to detail. Large cantilevered areas provide impressive covered spaces that invite enjoyment and admiration. Expansive glazed openings offer a panoramic 180-degree view of the lake, integrating contemporary materials with traditional roof shapes to create a seamless transitional architectural masterpiece. Custom lighting details further enhance the design, creating an unprecedented evening ambiance. Hidden soffit lighting along the perimeter of both levels creates a dramatic floating effect when viewed from the lake, while tread and floor pin lights offer both functionality and visual elegance.

The choice of aluminum composite metal panels and intricate facia details introduces innovative elements previously unseen in Muskoka. The exterior’s gray-beige tone maintains a natural earth-tone aesthetic while introducing a fresh perspective. Integrated handrail lighting not only illuminates but also adds an intriguing visual element, completing a design that harmonizes contemporary sophistication with traditional charm.
